DAN TAYLOR
Dan Taylor began Martial Arts training in 1965. He has trained in Jujutsu, Judo, Wrestling, Karatedo, and Kobudo. He is a former member of the U.S. Army Wrestling Team in Europe, and a U.S. National Karate Team in Japan. He is a former Law Enforcement Officer and was the Chief Weaponless Defense Instructor for a large regional police academy. He is a graduate of California State University Fresno with a degree in Business Law. He learned Gojuryu Karatedo, Kenshinryu Kobudo, and Nihon Jujutsu from Kenneth Rosson, 9th Dan, Hanshi. He opened a dojo with the Visalia, California Parks & Recreation Department in 1975. In 2024, he retired from teaching.
He has trained with many notable instructors in the U.S., Japan, and Europe including: Teruo Hayashi, Yasuhiro Konishi, Fumio Demura, Motoo Yamakura, Kenpu Sugihara, Rudy Crosswell, Kiyoshi Yamazaki, Morio Higaonna, Shuji Tasaki, Leo Lipinski, Sam Imoto.
He currently holds the following ranks & titles:
- Karatedo: Hachidan (8th Degree Black-Belt), Hanshi
- Jujutsu: Rokudan (6th Degree Black-Belt)
- Kobudo: Godan (5th Degree Black-Belt), Renshi
All of his ranks & titles have been certified by the Dai Nippon Butoku Kai (DNBK) in Kyoto, Japan. Established in 1895, the DNBK is the oldest and most prestigious martial arts organization in Japan.
